Additional Info

We’re closing out the year in one of California’s most iconic small towns—Lone Pine. Set at the base of the Alabama Hills and serving as the gateway to the High Sierra, this region delivers a striking contrast of desert rock formations and alpine terrain, with Mount Whitney rising just to the west.

December brings crisp mountain air and the possibility of light snowfall at higher elevations, adding texture to the landscape. While mornings can be cold, the days are typically clear and sunny, creating excellent riding conditions with quiet roads, long sightlines, and dramatic scenery. It’s an ideal time to experience the area without crowds, where each ride moves from open desert into the foothills and mountain trails of the Sierra Nevada.

The area is rich with history and offers a wide range of riding challenges suitable for dirt, dual-sport, and adventure motorcycles. Routes may include iconic film and television locations throughout the Alabama Hills, stretches of nearby Death Valley, abandoned mine sites you can ride into, BDR sections, and Sierra mountain trails—delivering variety, challenge, and a strong sense of place.

Evenings are spent off the bike at local haunts and funky, historic motels that reflect the character of the region. With cold nights and cool mornings, heated gear is strongly recommended—adding a practical (and slightly bougie) edge to an otherwise rugged adventure.
